“Serenity Houses” are located in the tranquil traditional village of Mesa Gonia (or Episkopi Gonia), on the way to seaside village of Kamari. Picturesque Mesa Gonia is built on the fringes of Profitis Ilias Mountain. The village is depicted by Olivier on a Santorini map dated in 1801, as it is one of the oldest villages of the island of Santorini. The village has long history in wine production, as it is surrounded by vines and had many wineries (canava) from old times. Nowadays, Mesa Gonia is still one of the most important centers of wine production of Santorini, as it is full of wineries in very short distance that are awaiting you for a delightful wine tasting experience of the unique wines they produce. Visitors to the village should also visit the most important site of Mesa Gonia, which is the temple of Panagia Episkopi. This church was built in 1100 AD and is one of the oldest but also of the most important – in its history – churches of Santorini. It celebrates on August 15, with traditional organists, food and wine.
